Press release: Money and functions before public health

Press release: Money and functions before public health

Wednesday, December 9, 9:30 am , at the Court of Appeal Cluj, will take place a trial concerning the cancelling of Order 1/07.01.2014 of the President of The National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority.
The National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority, as defendant, and College of Veterinaries, as defendant, are sued by R.E.A.D.C. Turda Association, as complainer.
R.E.A.D.C. Association invites to the trial all interested and responsible citizens who want to support us. The intention of our association is to seize the abuses against the dog owners, which consist in conditioning of the free rabies vaccine by microchipping and registration in the new Electronic Registry of Dogs with Owners, of the College of Veterinarians, actions with payment in the private system, for the benefit of a group of interests.
The result is a premeditated attack on public and animal health.
A part of Disease Control Service, of the National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority, which keeps records of Evidence of Rabies Vaccination - Monitoring and Notification of Disease Service, was mandatory and free partially privatized, to the interests of an organization of College of Veterinaries, which manages the The Electronic Register of Dogs with Owners, without a public tender, with the right to receive money from pet owners at the registration procedure, arguing as action the mandatory rabies vaccine. But rabies vaccine is free offered to all owners.
The other dogs remained in the Monitoring Register of National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority.
The result of this action with payment and the conditioning of the free vaccine is the vaccination of only about 20% from dogs declared at the joint session of National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority - College of Veterinaries and F.E.S. (Friedrich Ebert Stiftung): "the 5.2 million stray dogs, that are 82% of dogs in Romania are in rural areas, where people do not have financial means to sterilize the animals owned."
We noticed in December 2014 Mr. Prime-Minister V.V. Ponta, the National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority and EU, about this abuse, but they did not take any action to reinstate the free and compulsory situations of the National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority.
Protection of animals without animal owners protection against the abusive laws imposed by groups of semi-budgetaries and semi-privates is an utopia.
The preventive and transparent manner that we want to impose at national level is the protection of animals and owners by implication, information and education.
We are waiting for the support all those who want to get involved.

Yours Sincerely,
Iulia Iozsa
R.E.A.D.C. Manager
